Well guys I sent out a little teaser about this time last year but now we are finally underway with the build. I had hoped it would be done for the 2012 SEMA show but as work and family projects would have it the serious work is just getting going now. We have received a lot of help with parts and supplies and I will detail each company’s involvement as the built progresses.

To summarize the build we am starting with an original 74 Grabber that was equipped with a 302 automatic and air that I purchased running from a dealer lot in central Philadelphia for $450.00. We plan to install a full Cortex Racing suspension www.cortexracing.com ; Coyote powered 6 speed combo that may have a “boost” in the power department coupled to a full floating Moser rear and a whole bunch of goodie in between. Hope you all enjoy the build.

The disassembly begins! I have owned this car for over 15 years but have barely put 200 miles on it in that time. I used the motor a number of years ago in my Mustang NMRA Pure Street car after a late friend of mine Richard Knowles of RK Cycle and Machine in Columbus, GA rebuilt the motor and made enough power to set to Pure Street record in 2000. Needless to say the Maverick lost its bullet.
I need to give a shout out to my crew, my two sons David who is a freshman at Virginia Tech and Daniel my 15 year old. Both have taken a big interest in the project unfortunately David will miss most of the action due to school.
From the pictures you can see the Danmar Max Jack lift. I you guys are in the market for a home garage lift this thing is perfect! I have a 9” ceilings and I can leave the hood open and raise the lift up all the way. It only lifts the tires to your chest but it’s perfect for what I do plus you can unbolt it and store it if you want.

Ya but it looks like a 73, with 73 stripes and a rear spoiler.

Looking forward to watching this build. You still have time before Sema. Havent you seen all those shows where they build a car in a week? :rofl2:

Yeah they never show you the 50 guys in the background working 16 hour days to make it happen..... Well, except maybe for 'Overhalin' but even then, you're not seeing everyone at the paint shop or upholstery.... or the three months prep time ordering parts, storage and inventory.

The front bumper suport brackets look like the ones on my 77. I haven't seen the ones off of a 73 but the front bumper on the 73 is much narrower that the 74-77.:tiphat:

It is a 1973. Can tell by the front valence and the rear lower quarter extensions, as well as the stripes.

We'll..unless someone repainted it with 73 stripes, added a 73 front end, and did a 73 bumper swap on the rear, then added a spoiler, maybe it is a 74 :hmmm: I know a little about 73's & 74...:)

Sorry guys I did make a typo it is a 73 and no SEMA this year is out but the plan is to have it in roller form by the time I leave for SEMA 2012.

We got the car mounted to the frame table and sent it out to have the underside, inside and firewall media blasted so we have nice clean metal to weld to.

What computer are you using with the Coyote? I've been doing some reading, and some of the early computers from Ford Racing had some issues.
I'll enjoy watching your build! :thumbs2:

I have for Ford Racing control pack so what ever comes with that. I did meet a guy this summer that did a coyote swap in Fox Mustang and ran into issues. He said that he worked closely with Ford and his tunner to resolve the issues. If I remember there where 2 wires pinned wrong and caused a stalling issue. My set was bult in July so I hope the fix is done or there are instructions on what to change. I haven't even opened the box yet. Lots to do before then.
