Weather stripping

ok ive looked at all the threads about weather stripping but im still confused. what is beltline weather stripping and is there a difference between that and the stuff that goes around the actual door. also can i buy a roll of this stuff? not the fuzzy stuff that the window sits in, but the rubber stuff that keeps water out. the rubber that goes on the outside of the door and the rubber in the door jams (on the actual car. not the door). this is probably poorly worded.

also it is for a 4 door. i dont know if that makes a difference. from what i understand they are all cut to fit. also, i dont plan on changing the fuzzies

 

The Beltline is is what it sounds like...the middle...about waist high. It goes across the door not around the door. The fuzzy stuff around the glass is the window channel. The glass slides between the beltline

 

How hard is it to change does it clip in how hard are the fuzzies to change

 

so the beltline goes INSIDE the door? ok i think i get that. and the window channel (fuzzies) goes right there at the window. do i have to buy specific weather stripping or do they sell a roll of this stuff?

im looking for the weather stripping that runs along the bottom of the door. also the stripping that goes on the car along the top of the window frame. the stuff that makes the seal when you shut the door. to keep the rain out

But not for a 4-door.

Nobody sells "a roll of the stuff". You might be able to find something that would work....but it would be quite a task to figure it out. The only thing I can recommend is get some for a two door and make them work. You might find some good used ones from a 4-door.

 

will the 2 door ones work if i cut them down? why is weatherstripping sooo expensive?

 

I see no reason why the 2-door ones would not work for a 4-door. The 2-door ones are longer than what would be required for a 4-door.

Expensive is all relative I suppose. It is not like these things are mass produced and sold at Wal-Mart. These weatherstrips are basically, due to their construction, made one at a time by hand.
