Hi, i'm new to the forum and not to good with the computer so I will try to post some pictures soon. I'm from Fredericton,NB in Canada and I have a 72 comet gt. I've been on my back under the car grinding the under carriage the last couple of days. It looks like there maybe some galvinized metal on the frame and if so I'm worried about sucking in the grinding dust. Is there any gavinized metal in our cars and will the grinding dust hurt me ? Thanks Goldnrod
from nor cal lucky you got the real gt im turning my 72 comet into a clone and for the galvinized metal i do not no
thanks for the welcome, yup very lucky to get this car, real gt and quarters are rust free just needed some work on the drivers floor.
Welcome from Panama City, Florida.... There is some inside the cowl area on some cars but I don't know of any more places it might be, just wear a particle mask when you're under there grinding away, I would wear one regardless of galvanizing or not, not good stuff to breathe in, when I was welding pipe at the shipyard we had some galvanized pipe and when I welded on it my cigarettes tasted sweet, thats when I knew I did too much welding on that galvanized stuff.
Galvanized steel on Mavs... Inner/ outer rocker panels Front/rear frame rails Outer cowl panel Lower outer side panel of firewall, (area forward of door hinge post aka "A" pillar) There is more just cant remember right now...Hope this helps.
Welcome, fellow NB'er! I'm in Saint John if you're ever down this way, PM me! How long have you had the car? Was it local?? I assume it probably was if you're underneathe it grinding... Any pictures???
