So my power steering control valve is pretty much toast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2uRRWiyUoo

I've been researching rebuild options, the work that goes in to it, and searching the archives. For the rebuild I'd send the unit and the cylinder to get rebuilt and put it back in. This is a first for me researching, working on and learning the steering components of my Maverick ('77) outside of the sway bars, control arms and spring swaps I've done so I'll have some newbie questions to come.

For the question: Are there upgrades that I can do in place of putting in the rebuilt power steering control valve that could take me a step closer to a rack and pinion type front end? A partial type system if you will.
I'm not feeling it by dropping a couple grand on a full conversion kit at the moment with other projects I've got slated for the Mav; although it would be the best end-game option.

Comments? It's either the rebuilt or full conversion?
    Thanks everyone.

Yes....one or the other. There really is no middle ground.

I do have some questions for you on this! So noticing the ...for your 1963-1970 Mid-Size Ford car.... do you know if it's all that different against a 1977? (Would it work for later model Mavericks)
Also ... - Steering column must be shortened to fit box... can someone explain that part? Right now I'm thinking that the column is shortened down at the box to fit it? If that is done, will this screw you in future repairs/replacements and limits you only to this borg unit?

Thanks everyone for the input. Looks like I'll need to start the swear jar up again and up it from .25cents to $1. (y) I got plans to swap in an AOD in the spring and don't want to put that off.

Way ahead of you! Already got one of his fine crafts on the bench next to all the new linkages and misc. materials needed for this.

    Raising this back up -

I thumbed through the Borgeson documents and your post of how you performed this and my question is: Does your Mav have the stock column shift?

There's a bold print section under Steering Column Modifications and Borg suggests that this conversion is not recommended for column shift applications. Extensive modifications are required. I've got the ol C4 Column Shift.

    Thanks

you wont be able to use the column shift with this setup.

You can see how i had to cut both the inner and outer tube, so the lever for the shifter would be cut off on the standard column. So a floor shifter is pretty much required for this.
