So, gas is leaking from the bottom of my carb. I re-built it a few weeks ago and it seems to be working better except for the leak. When I re-installed the carb, there was a 1/4" thick gasket/spacer between it and the EGR spacer. The guy who re-built it before me just stuck the thin carb gasket to the bottom of this black spacer.

My question is, do I need this thing or can I just bolt the carb directly to the EGR spacer with just the regular gasket?

    Thanks!

The pictured part is a heat isolator. I see you're from a cooler part of the country, so I would say you won't need this. Don't pitch it, though! If you encounter hard hot starts in the summer, you can put it back on. :)
Also your leak may be a bad power valve. This may not come in some carb kits. :)

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know! It's only 45 degrees out today and will probably be that way until next Summer. My kit actually came with a new power valve so it should be fine. I pulled the carb and will go through it again to make sure everything is in place and tight before I put it back in the car.
