i just installed cougar tail lights now my gas cap looks like crap lol what gas caps will fit and look good
Are you looking for a stock replacement? I have a very cool fuel filler that I was planning on running on my project, but found something else I want more. It will take a little bit of modification, but would be very unique on a Maverick. Let me know if you are interested and I will post pictures. Glenn
I used a '71-'73 Mach I pop open gas cap like this on a '76 F100 Flareside I had - http://www.cjponyparts.com/pop-open-gas-cap-1971-1973/p/GC713P/. I think it would look cool between your Cougar tail lights. Bruce
Got mine from a racing supply outfit in England. It's an "Aston fuel filler cap" and is the same style as the one used on Cobra roadsters, only a bit smaller (the larger one would have looked disproportionate).
Yes, many of them are over-sized to fit on the taillight panel without going over the edges of the raised part. That said, I use this one, and plan to build up the area around it so that it is raised to match in the future. This is similar to the ones made for mustangs, but Fan2488 added the steer-head!
If I were going with an aftermarket I would go with one of the billet caps made for restomod Mustangs. You can get plain, GT, or Cobra. Also avail. in black.
I have already purchased one of these:http://www.eddiemotorsports.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=26602&c=348 but have changed my mind. If someone has interest in this one let me know. I now need to sell it and I am willing to make a deal. I am now going with this, only in the full polished Stainless Steel. Not this Nickel plated one.
