Just looking at buying one...its the 6.0L been told head bolts are a problem as well as the EGR issue.

I'm not too sure what to look for when buying diesels or one of this type, any problems i should be looking for or testing?
There is 120,000 Km's on the truck if that matters.

my uncle had one to haul all his buffers and strippers that he use to clean floors with and he kept having turbo problems and the last thing to happen to it was the tip of the fuel injector broke off, i remember him telling me that was 7,000 alone just to fix, i never heard him say anything about the EGR problem, but the guy at the dealership told him to clean it every time he change the oil, so it must was an issue....

The 6.0s get a bad rap, but in reality, if you do an EGR delete and head studs, they are pretty good. I have a friend that has over 250k of heavy hauling on his, plus if its an auto, you will love the tranny. Makes pulling a trailer a dream with the haul/tow mode.

Maintenance is very important. Coolant, oil, fuel filter changes, etc. The biggest problem with the 06-07's is the oil cooler. The passages in the cooler itself are very small and are prone to clogging if the coolant condition isn't kept up with. I use purified or distilled water and the correct Ford premium Gold coolant with the correct additive if the nitrite level test indicates a need for it. Fuel filters every 15K miles and oil changes 5K-7,700 miles. The oil cooler failure usually leads to the EGR and EGR cooler problems since the coolant passages for the EGR cooler are in series after the oil cooler. Lack of flow due to oil cooler restriction overheats the EGR cooler and melts the brazing allowing a coolant leak into the EGR passages. This is a worst case senario and shouldn't deter you from it since the later year trucks seem to be much better than the earlier ones. They are a pretty decent engine otherwise and if you did experience a failure in the future, there are some solutions from the aftermarket. Check with Elite Diesel to start with. The EGR elimination kits are getting hard to come by here since I think the EPA is trying to shut down modifications from the source but you can still get the bulletproof coolers and oil cooler upgrades since the emissions system is left intact. We work on them all day long with 200K+ miles, many with relatively short repair histories.

I would buy one if I needed one. The 6.0l is leaps and bounds better than the 6.4l as far as being repairable if something did happen from a cost standpoint. IMHO

Thank you very much for that info I appreciate it, and cheaper to fix... Well that's the winner for me.
