I'm thinking of runing the Red Pump as a stand alone . Has anybody run the red pump as stand alone on there street and strip car? Thanks Tony
There are better more dependable pumps out there, holley's quality has went down the drain on these pumps
I've been running a red one...no problems at all And have a blue sitting around but not sure if it works, but I'll be buying a black soon just so I should never need another. Honestly I wish I got a black in the beginning to save future issues of not enough fuel
The only differance betwenn the red, blue, and black is the relief spring save you some money and buy the grumpy jenkins spring from moroso
What are you going to feed with it ? If it's a carb, MrGasket's 12S pump is hard to beat. There's enough flow to feed three carbs at WOT at topend rpms.
I have the red on mine, the first one died after a few hours of use, summit sent me a new one (summit is awesome to work with) The pump sucks!!! it is the noisiest freaking thing i ever herd. when i talked with Holley they said it is generally used with strip only because of how loud they are. I'm going to go to the new pump Holley came out with this year its supper quiet but its twice the price
Thanks for all the info. I have mine mounted to the railroad tie down bracket. I have the red pump with a relay running up to a mechnical fuel pump. I see the mech pump is going bad will not hold steady pressure. So I would like to spend the money on my next project , frame connectors . I don't mine the noise. I will go ahead and install the block off plate. Tony
I've got a silver (natural aluminum) holley pump. I looked up the number that's on the bottom cover and it says it's a blue pump. I've always heard as Joe Dirt said that they're all the same except the spring. Joe, I have a spring from Moroso still in the package and it says either 17 or 19 psi. Does that sould like the one you're talking about? That sounds like alot of pressure! Will the holley regulators work with that spring? BogDog, I haven't heard about the new holley quiet pumps you mentioned. That sounds good though, and maybe I'll try one of those later down the road. How much is it and what type regulator does it come with?
Its the bilited black HP-125 125 gph at 7.5 psi does not need a regulator . Its around $200. Hollys site says its considerablly quiter than the red, blue, and black vained pumps. Ill be switching to one this winter
