While I agree - the best conversion is to switch to the full kit with NEW SPINDLES offered by diskbrakeswap.com .................

the question was will that kit offered on ebay fit a Maverick 4 lug. I see the kit on ebay is made to fit over the stock 4 lug spindle. In checking the bearing numbers, the Maverick and Mustang use the same bearings but the Mustang had a 10" drum and Maverick used a 9" drum. Spindle interchange according to Hollander gets a bit more complex. The Maverick used a Falcon spindle up to 8/25/69 - that spindle will not work with this kit. The Maverick after 8/25/69 received the same spindle as the Mustang 4 lug.

So, looking at the information if you have a later than 8/25/69 built Maverick this kit looks like it should fit.

BUT I STILL would go with the full Granada kit as it has pr oven to be a reliable swap and it uses the stronger spindles.

    Hope this helps ............. :Handshake

I read that my 70 Maverick spindles were the same as the 70 Mustang....so I bought a 5 lug drum set up off of a 70 Mustang and it was a bolt on (except I had to adapt the brake lines).

So a disc brake kit that fits a 70 Mustang should fit a Maverick's spindles unless there were changes by production date.

My question would be what all of the parts are from. That looks like Scarebird brackets....different than the kit I bought though. The kit I have for my Mustang uses Scarebird brackets, Ranger rotors, S-10 calipers and Cadillac brake hoses.

Wow thanks a lot yes my car was built in ether Feb or April of 1970. I know because it is a grabber that came with a Rim Blow steering wheel witch they stoped making after April. So again thanks so much! the whole reason why I bought the 74 was to convert to 5 lug but it looks like ill be ordering one of these kits instead

Well I looked at pick n pull online for prices and from what I understood it was going to be 80 a side. And I would get new rotors and pads and at the end of the day wouldn't be too far off from the $399 for everything on eBay. I should look at mom and pop junk yards tho they are always way cheaper :)

Exactly. With the Granada swap, the parts are all Ford and readily available (for now :) )

3 years of looking and I haven't seen a Granada in a local yard that didn't have it's brakes off by the time I get there. And, my downstairs neighbor works at a pick n pull 3 minutes from my house and he let's me know when certain cars hit the yard he's at. There have been 0 granadas in his yard.

Those cars are getting junked because they swap to too many cars and they are getting junked without brakes.

I never see any around here either. Scrap metal prices and cash for clunkers nearly eliminated all old cars exept for collectors items it seems.

The people that have disc brakes off them usually want $200+ for them.

Yea the yard by my house had 2 69.5 mavericks in it recently, I got tipped off to both before they hit the yard. By the time pay day came around and I went to go look to see if I could score some parts off them they had been crushed. They usually don't keep anything older than 85 in the yard longer than a month unless its a "proper classic". Which still doesnt explain the Mustang II they left up front for 6 months.

Finding brakes in the junk yard is not something you should expect to happen anymore.
