Been lurking for a while but haven't posted. Lots of great info here. Long story short, I have a 72 Grabber that has been sitting about 5 years, I decided a few weeks ago it was time to stop making excuses and get it back on the road so I went out last weekend drained about 5 gallons of bad fuel, replaced the fuel pump and cleaned the carb, running good now but I need to do some brake work before its drivable again so am probably going to go ahead with the disc conversion soon. Anyway, everything is working as it should except for my cluster lights, running lights and turn signals, headlights and brake lights work fine. I want to focus on the cluster lights first as I checked all my fuses and they were all good with power except for the small cluster fuse, I think its #3 in the panel.... I have no power to either side. :hmmm: My question is does power come from the light switch through the fuse to the cluster meaning I could have a bad switch or should I have power to that fuse at all times even if the lights are off, which would seem to mean I have a wiring problem to the fuse itself, with my luck it will probably be both... lol. I've read through some other cluster thread but did not see what I was looking for. I am just getting started on this and any help would be appreciated.

Try turning your headlamp switch knob back and forth several times. The little contact on the resistor coil ( for the dash lights ) will sometimes corrode from sitting. The brightest position is all the way to the left and a little more turns the dome light on. I do think that the circuit for the fuse does go through the light switch, but I'm not certain of that. :)

Hey, I have tried that thinking the switch might be corroded but didn't help. Is there a wiring diagram somewhere that is pretty easy to read? Would like to be able to see where the power to the fuse comes from... thanks.

Thanks for the diagram, it told me what I needed to know. Ordered new light switch and put in a few days ago, fixed all my problems with the lights and cluster, now I am waiting on my new wiper switch. Saw that the plastic on the back of the switch where it goes to the connector was breaking loose so decided while I was in there to go ahead and replace it, hopefully get it before the weekend so I can put it in and get my dash all back together. I think while I have it out might go ahead and paint the inside of the cluster white like I have seen suggested to brighten it up a bit. Thanks again.:)
