If I remember correctly, both my kick down and the lock rod had to go for my Black Jack headers..

That is what we did with mine, and the geometry is all wrong. With it flipped, it does not have the range of motion that the shifter needs. Getting it into Park is awful.

I did this because I heard the same thing, but my trans is the original one that came in my Comet. Maybe with a trans out of some other model Ford, the flip would work due to differing shift linkage.

Ya the flip method is hit and miss depending in the parts used. I used the stock maverick arm but my floor shift and linkage was out of a Granada. I also didnt use a mav floor shift hump to bolt the shifter too. I got lucky that it all went togethor and worked flawlessly for years. Ive heard alot of other stories that just wouldnt work right with different parts.

I would assume with this new arm you could use the floor shifter from any Ford car of the same style. then use the new Selector lever and Mav linkage to make it all work togethor.

Probably should add that I am using a Pinto shifter and linkage, and no floor hump.

An early Mustang shifter works perfect for this, and better without the trans hump. Shifter us smaller and fits on the floor better.
