Hi everyone, my names Seth, im 18 and just got my first car, A 74 Maverick with a i6, 5-lug conversion and a 9'' rear. im going to college in the spring so i have no money and need to get halfway decent gas mileage in my car. my plan? my dad had a wrecked 1995 mustang sitting around so im poling the drivetrain out of that and putting it in my maverick. i know its a ton of work but my brothers and i have been doing this for a while so im ready to get it done.
my brother has a 1994 mustang v6 and gets 31mpg highway with it, my maverick is lighter then his mustang so my hope is to get a little better then that.

i'd like to do a big to small bumper changes so if anyone has tips they'd be appreciated.
will any mustang bumper fit my maverick?
will any mustang valences fit my maverick?

I don't think anyone has done a 3.8 liter conversion here. You may be able to use 302 mounts. Anyone know? From what i understand, a 3.8 is just a chopped 302 (5.0). Definately not impossible.

Just because you swap over the drivetrain, don't expect the EXACT same milage. Aerodynamics plays a factor as well. A Maverick is a brick compared to a Mustang.

This will be quite the project. Good luck.

thanks for your concern, but im expecting the weight to compensate for the lake of Aerodynamics. for instance the mustang i took these parts out of weighed 3259lb. as aposed to the 2642lb. my maverick weighed with that heavy 9'' rear and a i6. also the 3.8l has alot of emission valves and whatnot that can be removed sense the car is technically a antique. also the car will be lower 2'' to help with the Aerodynamics.
    but thanks for the thought.
