Once the hump is in, you won't see it under the carpet. What are you going to do with the neutral safety switch?

Thanks Dave, I feel the Nuetral safety switch is very important. I cant tell from the pics but I think its on the shifter. If so I am after a factory harness or I will have to run my own wires. I am also worried about the collume lock. I would eventually like to swap in a flooor shift colume but for now I was hoping to find use a factory lock rod. Will it work with my long tube headers?

Pretty sure that the lock rod will not work with long tube headers.

You need to change the shift lever in the trans for a stock floor shifter.

Thanks for the feed back I found this diagram in the 72 shop manual. Looks like I can use the shifter with my existing lever but not the lock out rod. Dave, your running short tube headers with a floor shifter? Are you using a lock out rod? Which way does the transmission shift lever up or down with a colume shift? I think I dont like my long tube headers anymore....... Which short tube headers work best?

I'm running shorties with a column shift on my green car. My old 74 Grabber I had to install a floor shift due to the long tube headers. You'll need to get yourself a transmission mounted neutral safety switch, and wire it in, plus lock your steering column. There should be some treads about all this is the tech section.

Dave isn't....but I am. I have the factory floor shift AT with column lock out rod...all installed with Doug Thorley shorty headers.

I don't know the part number off hand, but they were specifically made for a MAVERICK. If you contact them...they will know.
