I bought a used Ford Sport Steering wheel for my 1976 and it has no horn (I assumed incorrectly that it would have it)..

Is there a horn "kit" I could get for this? Does anyone else use a steering wheel without a horn - if so what do you do for a horn?

It depends. Is the steering wheel made for a horn? Some models of the sport steering wheel were designed without the horn rings (for vehicles with the turn signal mounted horn switch). I have heard of some people converting non-horn ring sport steering wheels.

If it does have the horn rings then you can simply buy a re-produced horn pad. http://compare.ebay.com/like/300839425385?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar

That horn button almost cost what I paid for my sport wheel WITH the horn!!!

But the sport wheel and horn is superior to that aftermarket AutoZone crap you can slap on there.

There is no easy way or kit to make a non horn wheel into a horn wheel. Hope you didn't pay too much for it.

My advise - Save some aggravation trying to find a way to add a horn and just sell what wheel you have on ebay and buy the right wheel. :yup:

It does not have the horn rings - I will put it on eBay and start over - thanks for the advice

The non horn versions came on 79-82 Mustangs and Capris, which had the horn on the turn signal lever. You want to find one that was from a Mustang II or truck.

Before you sell it, post a picture of yours here. It might be the right one, just needing the button.

Here is the sport wheel I have...

It uses a button similar to that one in the ebay post, but mine has 3 long springy wires in the back that snap it in and out.

That wheel came with and without horn contacts on the backside. Depends on which version he has...

I have converted a non horn to horn. its not hard just takes a little time and a donor wheel with all the contacts.

I still have the stock wheel - so I'm open to converting it - just not exactly sure how..
