Does anybody have the codes for the rear end. I replaced the axle bearings on one axle and the other axle is gone. Bearings messed up the axle. This is for the 72 mav I going to look at the rear ends I have but, I need the code for the year that is on the plate. A 72 or 73 will work.

Thanks for the help. I found a rear end that I have to use. The bad part is the difference between a wdw-t and wdw-t1 is the center hole on the brake drum is bigger for the t1. So I have to change to other axle a swap brake drums and get different rims which I don't have. This what happen when a axle bearing ruins one axle. But the good thing is I have the replacement rear end to get the parts.

    Mike,
Can you have the axles turned down to fit your drums? That would eliminate the need for different wheels front to rear.

I don't think so. I'll ask the machine shop tomorrow.

According to the parts catalog the only difference in drums are the 4-lug 9"x1-3/4" drum and the 5-lug 10"x2" drum. I don't know, I'm not looking at it, maybe you're sticking your tongue out wrong or have on the wrong color socks.

    EDIT>> I see now that 71-73 have a 2-7/16" hole and 74-up have a 2-25/32" hole.

The center hole is bigger on the wdw-t1. I think this rear end came from the 73 I had for parts.

Without knowing the build date of your 73 parts car...maybe it was a late run and got the new parts. Nothing is written in stone when it comes to Ford parts. Just telling you what the Master Parts Catalog said. A person would think all Maverick parts would interchange but I seen too many small things that differ. Like window regulators having a different bolt patterns and throttle cables having different ends just to name a few. This is why I comically ask what color was the car you got the part from.

Its a couple of years that I had the parts cars. I think its blue LDO. I don't know the color makes a difference. When the axle come from wdw-t1 that on the rear end.

    axle bearings.

Where did you buy your axle bearings? I can't seem to locate them online for my 73 mav. 302. I haven't checked them out yet but I hear a (waa-waa-waa) when I'm driving. Could be the brakes cause it seems to get louder when I apply the brakes. Just like to know where to buy the bearings if that's the problem.
