When I had the body work done on my orange car....I insisted that the body shop recreate these holes. They thought I was nuts. A thought to be confirmed later. :D

It was standard on non-Grabber '73s. My '73 came with it, a and so did my friend's '73.
He took his off, but I still have mine.

last reply didn't get on so i'll try again. trimline had the moldings for both the side AND wheel wells.somewhere aronund 76 or 77 they came out with a molding that stuck on before that ALL of trimline pieces that we put on the sides for doors had a little bullit like piece that slipped onto the ends and a rubber piece in the center that you cut to length and inserted these were ALWAYS a drilled molding and put on with rivets.there were still guys after that were still using the old stuff.so some of the cars may have NOT come from ford with side moldings.we would put these (and stripes or moon roofs (sorry lol) ) on at the new car lots before they were put out to sell. it was a great job put MAN did we screw up alot of cars with those rivets and moon roofs! :( (y)

I have yet to see a moon roof on our cars that the owner or previous owner didn't do. Maybe a pic of one like from Mexico or something but that's about it. I installed several pop out sun roofs while working at Pep Boys a loooong time ago. I almost put a pop out in mine and glad I didn't try. Seeing them IS different..

I know we discussed this before, Craig indicated his research showed the same. My 70 Grabber has the wheel lip molding and the rocker panel molding. I'm the second owner, since 1973, the original owner didn't install it (knew him) and neither did I. I've always wondered if the dealer installed these pieces or since it was built in very late 1970 if someone at the factory decided to put Comet trim on it. I used to see a lot of '71 Comets with these same molding pieces. Or maybe mine wasn't originally intended to have Grabber trim and things changed mid-stream?

I would say it wasn't standard. This was an original paint 1973 I parted out that did not have the side trim....but it did have the wheel lip moldings. The wheel lip moldings could have been added.
