It's been a while since I posted but I figured I would post a few pick of my turbo setup. Yes it is in the trunk. I'm not anywhere near done. I still have to do the waste gate flange and pipe back to the carb wich will run inside the car and through the firewall where the heater blower used to be. As soon as I take more photos I will post them. Let me know what y'all think
There is a company here in salt lake that uses the remote turbo systems, the biggest problems they have had is the oil pressure for the turbos.. http://www.ststurbo.com/bolt_on_turbo_systems if I remember they not only employ the oil feed from the engine but they use an inline pump to help feed the turbos.
My dad has a sts kit on his truck. The problem isn't the oil feed its the oil return. There is no oil pressure on the return side of the turbo so there has to be a pump that sends the oil back to the engine. I'm using a shurflo oil scavenge pump with a 1/2 inch return line
You're really going to have the pipe go through the inside of the car? Isn't that going to be hot in there? Plus the turbo inside the trunk? Can't you put a fuel cell in the trunk and the turbo under the car? Just thinking of all that heat and potential for exhaust leaks in the cabin.
The trunk lid is louvered to let the heat out and the trunk will be sealed off by a firewall. The quarter windows have NASCAR style vents that will be ducted to the firewall to let air in the trunk to feed the turbo and let air in to keep it cool plus the turbo will have a blanket on it. Plus it's just cool to have a trunk mounted turbo
