picked up a set of leaf springs at the pick your part. pulled them off of a 150. theyre a 5 leaf set up. i thought they came in packs of 6. o well, thats besides the point. i read in the tech article that they have a different bushing size? what would i have to do if i wanted to use the econoline main leaf. can i use those shackles?
You could just keep your top leaf that bolts to the car but remove the lower leafs and then attach the truck leafs to that. The truck springs probably have a much different spring rate. Back in the 70's I did that by installing station wagon lower leafs onto my original top leafs. The rear of the car ended up almost chest high (I'm 6'6") and the shocks weren't long enough to bolt in. LOL
I did the same thing after screwing up my shock mounts with air shocks. I used the Maverick main leaf and a couple of leaves from a '64 Galaxie wagon. Bruce
hahaha that sounds awesome. alright cool. sounds simple enough. if my shock mounts are messed up, what will i have to do to them. the dude i bought the car from put air shocks in. i try to keep them deflated as possible to reduce stress on the mounts. i hope that works for the time being.
Is that the rebound clip you're referring to? I guess you just bend them to fit? That's good to know they're available for when I have to adjust my leaf springs. Thanks!
Plus there is a bolt that goes down through the center of all of the leaves. Toughest part of the job (and it's not all that tough) is squeezing the leaves together to get the nut onto that bolt. I used a small drill press vice.
