This is the one I used for my Cleveland- still similar to the Windsor pan - the notch clears the Mustang II cradle.

Oh hell! I knew I needed brake calipers and disks, and a power steering pump and hoses. Didn't know I needed a new pan!

Mine is a 5.0. Same part number?

    That is pretty tight...

I think I have high capacity oil pan in the attic, unless I sold it already. It might do the trick. Has a T at the bottom and front. It is/was a Morosso.

If not, the standard Mustang double sump won't fit?

I tried one with the 351W and it didn't fit but maybe you'll get lucky with the 302. I'd sure try everything before spending the dough.

Mine is 5.0, not that it would make much difference.

Anyone installed the R&C with a 5.0 that can give me some guidance?

    71Gold?

You're correct. I was only thinking in terms of a 7 qt pan.

Sorta asked this in an aside on another thread, but more relevant here.

Can I buy parts for this at my local parts store, like O'Reilly?

If so, what make model and year do I say I am buying for?

Can I ask for 1978 Mustang II parts?

I still need backing plates, hubs, rotors, calipers and pads, and shocks for the suspension.

PS pump and plumbing for the steering, but I should be able to just buy for the 5.0 model mustang, unless I go for some hi-dollar pump, but that looks like a hassle with lots of other mounting hardware needed.

One more thing...I was thinking of cutting my own sheetmetal to cover the holes from the shock towers, but instead of welding them in, using nuts and bolts to secure them. So when I need to work on the joints or replace suspension parts, I can pull the plates off and access the suspension from the top, instead of working under the fender.

Is this a bad idea, or not really needed?

If you are going to go with coil over shocks/springs you need to buy aftermarket and I would go with what R & C suggests or what others have used - my spindles were simply a non-drop forged set from a Mustang II - no one asked me a year as I believe all of the Mustang II's were the same - it was the early Pinto's that had different suspension but by the time 1974 rolled around the Pinto was the same as the MII - same with the brakes, pads, hubs, rotors

I have a set of aftermarket brackets that let me use the 11 inch Granada rotors/hubs with GM Metric disc brake calipers and GM pads as stock MII rotors and caliper frames are designed for 9 inch rotors unless you can find some stuff from a Cobra II and then they wouyld be 11 inch :)
