i have a 77 with a 250 c4 combo and want to change to a 250 with manual 3,4,5 speed not sure which yet my main question at this time is that in one of the many threads i read here some one said that a 77 with power disk brakes never came with a clutch using the stock linkage. is this because of interference with some thing or is it because no one has wanted this combo. also i believe the pedal perch or hanger may be different? does any one have the answers to this because i was going to start this change in about a week or am i wasting my time.

It was not available because it will not fit. You can't get a power disc brake set-up and a clutch pedal to fit together. If you have power disc brakes and want a clutch pedal, you will need to go hydraulic or cable activated clutch.

Craig - Read what you wrote and explain how the clutch pedal won't fit but the clutch pedal will fit. Are you talking linkage or pedal?

thanks for the answers. I was talking the whole linkage as i have not crawled in with the linkage in hand yet. but wanted to ask before drilling holes in the fire wall.

I was talking an entire custom job. The factory clutch pedal will not work with power disc brakes because the brake pedal swings at an odd angle.

I added the tube for the clutch pedal to pivot on because it's in a different location since I wanted to use a quadrant out of a Fox Mustang so you can modify what you have if you feel comfortable doing so. You will need to fabricate the pedal mount, clutch master cyl mount and obtain a pedal. No stock Maverick manual trans pedal assembly stuff will work due to the odd angle for the brake pedal and booster mounts and no 250 was available with a manual either. There isn't much room on the right side of the pedal bracket due to the angle and booster location so, in my opinion a hydraulic setup would be a better choice if you want to retain power brakes and there is ample room on the left side of the bracket.

I had power disc brakes in my 75 with a manual trans and stock clutch linkage. It's been a long time but I think all I did was put a little offset bend in the brake rod. Worked perfectly.

thanks John that was a word of encouragement i needed. I was starting to dream up all kind of ideas like pillow block bearings and extending clutch pedals or who knows what. i may put this job on the back burner for a little while and spend next weeks vacation freshening the motor so i can keep oil pressure for more then 5 minutes instead.
and injectedmav i most of misunderstood, you most of meant no manual behind a 250 that had power disk brakes. Because i just put one from a 75 in my garage today complete with motor bell housing tranny and z linkage. But the car didn't have power brakes

I know you're talking to injectedmav in your second paragraph but I once had a 76 with manual trans floor shift and a 250 with bucket seats. ( I bought the car for parts and put the reclining buckets and pedals in my 75) My 75 came with 250 automatic and power disc brakes. I swapped in a 302 auto and later added the manual trans I mentioned before.

I have a 74 with a 250 and 3speed on the tree. I would like to use that transmission on my maverick with a 250 and C4/power brakes. I am interested in how it all works, maybe I will tackle my project if its possible! Really enjoyed the 3 on the tree growing up! If I can't, I will adjust to the comfort of the automatic!

    I will stay tuned!

    Chris

glad o see the interest from you Chris. i was going to tackle that next week but with a limit on my time and the increase in difficulty i think i am going to concentrate on my motor i can still drive a auto with a refreshed motor but it doesn't go far with a manual tranny and no oil pressure in the motor. i found out about the motor at about the same time i started this thread. doesn't mean i am going to drop that project just move it down the list a little.

    thanks for the offer

    :D
thanks for the offer but i think i have every thing i took from a 74 parts car. i grabbed the pedal hanger the z brackets mounts bell housing trany ect only thing was the disk was wore out but i should be good for parts. still haven't come up with a good solution for the power brakes yet to buy time but get it started may go with manual breaks
bigger projects like this i have to pull a week or 2 vacation but work hasn't let me do it lately.
