What is the rareest OE part on a maverick

    You like throwing that around, don't you. :rolleyes: it doesn't hurt our feelings, we can take a joke. Lots of us have owned Comets,or own Comets, so it's not the issue you like to make it. If you don't like the MCCI, I'd ask that you please refrain from using the club in any of you future comments.

    I suspect they were more of a dealer installed option rather than factory installed.

    I have a set of these and found no Ford part number, nor does any of the Ford literature I have indicate these were ever offered by Ford, even as an accessory. But they WERE sold by JC Whitney. And yes, those are exactly what I'm talking about, and as far as I know, they are quite rare! Very cool to see them on a car!

    Including '70 Maverick production skews the numbers badly, there were no Comets produced...

    Sooo we have 1,488,536 vs 487,212 = 32.73%, or Mav sold at approx a three to one ratio...

    It does beg the question why Mercury was initially left out of the running for Maverick-type cars (I'm sure it was tooling, plant availability, high Maverick launch demend, etc) Theoretically, they could have launched them both in the same year, but they didn't. Whatever the reason, I'm still going to look at the numbers from Total prodcution, with 1970 Comets = Zero.

    The lack of Comets is ALL you guys north of the border fault... Ever notice apparently St Thomas never built Comets???

    The Comet started its life as a Edsel. I guess people remembered this and that is the reason they sold fewer cars.

    St.Thomas built Mavericks and Pintos at the same time. Im sure they would have built Comets if they sold enough. :biglaugh:

    Well my buddy, the only argument I have about that is the fact that everybody that owns a Maverick has one just as rare as yours so rare doesn't mean anything if everybody has one. :)
