Ok, in my quest to find parts for my 6 cly to 302 swap I have a few questions:

It is a 1979 long block from a car, front sump oil pan.

    1. Do the Mavericks come from the factory with front or side dipsticks?

    2. I am buying a new electronic distributor, do I want a steel or cast distributor gear on it, I am going with a Comp 270 H cam if that makes any difference.

    3. Do I buy a flex plate for a V-8 Maverick or a 79 car engine.

    4. I purchased a new OEM 3 row radiator and already have been running it with the 6 cyl. will this radiator work? It has the bigger inlets and outlets on it, I had to force the 6 cyl hoses on it.

    5. My car has factory A/C with no power steering, what pulleys do I need, 2 groove, 3 groove?

I would love to talk to some one who has done this swap to find out what to expect as I will only have a few days to borrow the shop space to do the swap.

    1. Dipstick is probably on the front right(passenger) side, going through the timing cover behing the alternator.
    2. Unless you are converting to a roller cam, you won't need a steel distributor gear.
    3. Flex plate should match crank in your block, damper(balancer), transmission etc. Check with all parts and ask a tranny specialist.
    4. I bet the radiator will be fine.
    5. I have never seen a car with A/C and no P/S. I think that you are going to have to keep the 3 groove pulley to have it all aligned correctly.
Mine is an original A/C and P/S car. front to back the pulleys are: A/C, Alternator and P/S. So, for the A/C belt to align properly, you will need 3 groove pulleys unless you have a 2 groove setup for non-P/S cars that I have never seen with factory A/C.

if you're using a small bell c4, then go with the stocker 28 oz 157 tooth flywheel.
