I have a question for the Maverick family out there..OK here it goes ...When i step on my break peddle the parking lights on front come on ..Just noticed that this happens ...Im not good with finding wireing gremlins ...Has anyone else had this problem ....Could it possible be a ground issue ... What do i do to figure out this problem ..Thanks for the input
Sounds like a ground issue. Need to find all the grounds, remove them, sand them, then re-install. Could also be a pinched positive light wire that somehow got pinched against bare metal somewhere. Could also be the turn signal switch.
X2 - check your rear light grounds. It is fast and easy. If that does not fix it, write down ALL the bulbs that illuminate when you press the brake pedal, it will help with troubleshooting.
And make sure someone hasn't installed a reverse lamp (single contact) in a taillamp socket. I bought a car that way once and it gave me fits.
Check your emergency flasher switch to make sure it's pulled out. I have chased this problem before and what happens is the flasher for the hazards goes bad and at some point the switch is bumped turning them on. Since the flasher is bad you don't notice because they no longer function. Now every time you go to stop the fronts light up as well as the indicators in the dash.
while checking the grounds also check the sockets themselves. my turn indicator would come on in the dash when the lights were on turned out the front socket it self was tarnished and back feeding i scrapped the inside and it stopped
I reached in and pulled the Emergency Flasher button on the colume and hit the breaks and the lights are working fine now Something so small ...Thanks for all the usefull info you people are great:Handshake
Glad I could help! It was a common practic when the turn signal flasher went out to swap it with the hazard flasher. It was a free fix and how often do you use the hazards any way?
