hey guys i have a question about the factory color on my car.... when i bought it the guy who had it before me painted it white with blue racing stripes and i am wondering what the original color was, it looks like it was red and has some kind of pin striping on it because he didnt sand that off when he painted it..... the color code is 2R.... if anyone knows what that scheme is or even have a picture that would be awesome!

2R is "Bright Red". My 77 4-door was that colour. What size/location are the pin stripes? Being a 76, the only possibility of a unique factory striping other than regular pin-stripes would be a Stallion. The Stallions had all the chrome blacked-out, and a horse decal on the fenders. Any pictures?

i dont know if you can zoom in on this or not but i have arrows that point to where the pin stripes are, the top one runs all the way up and over the trunk deck and then to the other side. the bottom one just runs up and over each wheel well to each end of the car, im not sure if they are factory or not but its whats on the car

The stripe locations look pretty consistent with the Stallion Stripes. Also, all of your chrome is painted--the Stallions were painted black. If it was a Stallion, it would have black on the top and bottom, with the middle of the car being the red. It would also have a black interior.

Maybe some Stallion experts can chime in and help you out?

at first glance I wouldve said it was just the chrome trim dirt line that was painted over but after looking closer after seeing that stallion I say it couldve been a stallion.
doesnt the vin number dictate if it was a stallion or not? or atleast the paint code on the vin? or was it an option that could be ordered based off of a regular model?

what I do know is this those stallions are NICE!! especially the black and silver ones with the red pin striping

Trim code "LA" is Black Vinyl Bucket seats. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that your car IS a Stallion. And restoring it back to original is gonna make it worth more for sure. Certainly worth considering a Marti Report to know for sure. Do the body original, and do whatever you want to the drivetrain if you still feel the need to customize.

Your car also has the exterior protection Group which includes the rubber strips in the bumpers and bumperettes--another common Stallion option.

Can you peel any paint off the trim to reveal satin black under the white?

    Any interior shots?

You can't really tell if its a Stallion from the sticker, you need to order a Martin Report.

I bought a red and black primered 76 that was a father and son project (untill the son took off to Florida). After I got it home I backed the trailer up next to my outside light and parked it there. the next night I noticed paint lines under the primer and got curious so I ordered a 999 report from Ford (they were still free then) and with the help from MeanMaverick (David) deciphering what everything ment (youth appearance package) I discovered that I had bought a Stallion in pretty good shape for $600.00.
I agree with the others and would recommend that you get a Marti report or at least a Ford 999 report.

In looking at the picture you supplied, it does look to be a real Stallion. Now....also looking at the picture, that car is now so far from original that bringing it back to stock will be very costly. I say do whatever you want to do to it.

well thats my dilemma, i do have a plan for it and its going to be completly re done anyway so im not too worried about getting it back to original, but the other hand is that i dont intend on ever getting rid of it so it doesnt matter what it looks like.... im just having an issue with completely changing a vehicle that is pretty hard to find in the first place.... i dont want to destroy a rare vehicle...... what do u guys think?
