Looking at 72 Maverick

    Going today to look at 72 Maverick for my son. Need forum advice, what should I look for anything I should avoid.

    Needs restoring

    great body
    good engine 78 302 and trans c4
    good tires
    brand new hooker headers

    Needs:
    floor repaired
    needs interior
    and must have wiring finished car is not drivable

    I think I get it for less than $900.00

    Pour water in the vents infringe of the windshield. If water shows under the dash, pass on it. Especially for that price.

    I feel for you east siders, we have a great supply of rust free cars and can pick them up pretty cheap.

    Back in 05, I drove down Route 5 from Sea-Tac to Tacoma and couldn't believe the rust free old cars still on the road - makes me want to move LOL!

    If the pans are rusty, the quarters must be rusty too...just my thoughts..

    If the floors are rusty find the reason. Probably the cowl. Check by pouring the water down the slots in front of the window. If it comes down inside then you have a major problem. Up to you then wether you want to pass or fix. Good luck.:Welcome:

    if water leaks into the car, where is the problem? Can it be fix?

    It can be fixed, but it is a major job. Search for "cowl repair"for an idea of the work required. If you have to pay someone to do it, it most likely will cost more than the car is worth.
