working on a 1970 maverick.there is a long "box" thing on top of the steering column just under the dash.it has a rod that connects to the ingnition switch.think its giving me a problem but dont no how to research it as i dont no what its called.
That's the electrical part of your ignition switch. Somewhere on here is a procedure on how to adjust it. Edit: Forgot to mention, that switch is a one-year-only deal, shared with 70 Mustangs. Not easy to find and very expensive so hopefully yours just needs adjusted.
thanks.when the car is running if i move the switch just a little it stalls.will look on adjusting it.
He's right I looked everywhere for mine. The ONLY place I found was autokrafters.works great. Welcome from northern California!
This...... would be mounted where the two bolts are on this column. You would have thought it would be easy to find a picture of a complete steering column with a search but it wasn't. Not that I put a lot of effort into it......
Mine is a 69.5 with ignition under dash. I don't remember seeing anything like this before so I assume I don't have or need one
Just the very early ones (termed 69.5) from April 69 until the "official" 1970 model was debuted in the fall then the column ignition became the norm. All were registered as 1970 models
