So its all guessing about this car ??!!!
The story in Mexico is that the Shelby de Mexico S.A. was just a shop that sold tyres and Shelby parts (lo mejor en llantes y accesorios para automovil).
The so called Shelby Maverick is just a Maverick with off the shelf (mock up) parts from Shelby, like leftovers from Mustangs. Cilinderheads with the logo, emblems etc.
One side i hope this is not true and that it really exist offcourse but because the lack of proof............

Yeah, that car does look good. If I had to gripe about anything I see in that pic it would be the font they used in the rocker stripe, if that. The TA scoops look fine, but I think what really makes the car are the flares around the wheel openings. They might be a little bigger than I'd do, but they're a big step in the right direction. That's the only serious body modification I've ever considered doing to mine, and I may yet do that one day if I ever get to the point where I'm fully taking apart the car and going after the body with a grinder, welder and torch. I've always thought the wheel openings on Mavericks looked a bit weird and out of place compared to other cars of the time.

Well technically it looks like it was built using a Comet GT, unless the Mexican Mavericks used the Comet front end. Might just build me one out of my extra Comet. It's a nice clean look. - Matt

Does anyone know the function of those side scoops and where to find them?

They are from the front fenders of a Pontiac Trans Am and they are release vents for underhood heat :)
