One more thing, I can't remember the year, but Ford did put steel cranks in the 300 truck motor for two years.........................I'd have to do some research to remember which years................I'm thinking it was the first few years of production......................with a steel crank and mod'd stock rods I'm pretty sure you can get over 300HP.
It's coming out of a 71 or 72 Winnebago. From what I understand, fairly low miles. I suppose it could be a 240. Could be interesting. I am hoping for the 300 option. It seems a better investment choice than the 200. Although, the sound of Falcon Six, is really cool.
I like my little six, 200ci with a 170ci head.. Video sound!! http://youtu.be/90sQV4QHFtw This build is finally gonna get started, been too long waiting for it, my Grabber is almost ready so it's time for the Mavi GT!
How exactly did you get three carbs on that intake? (Ludicrous number of questions) That is totally cool sounding.
I believe you have to modify the intake. There is am offy adaptor that helps. The above picture looks completely custom. Ford six members have some discussions on it
yes totally custom work on the intake, don't know much about the engine other than what I was told, feel free to ask.
A 240 might work better for you because it is not as tall as the 300,so hood clearance would be less of an issue. Also with those long stock rods,I`d be leary about spinning a 300 very high.
The motor I was trying to get had some mod'd stock rods and OEM steel crank out of a truck..........what year I'm not sure. The guy was spinning the motor over 6500rpm..................in my blown V8 Flathead I only spun it 5200rpm. My V8 Flathead only had 3 main caps............the 300 has 7. The Flathead had 4" stroke stock, but I had the crank offset ground to increase the stroke to 4.125". The 300 has 3.96" stroke and 4" bore std., and I see no reason to worry about spinning it up as long as you do mod's to the crank/rods/pistons and a little work on the oiling system.......IMHO
