Two years ago I got some new trunk weatherstrip from AutoKrafters. Well, I just got around to installing it and it is not as tall as the original. It will work on the sides but doesn't even touch the lip along the center. It also has several kinks where it was folded in the package. Has anyone here experienced this and if so, what did you do about it?
Wish I had an answer.. I hate hearing these stories . I ordered a whole kit a few years ago also. I havn't used any of it but I did open stuff to check for the kinks and stuff. I layed most of the rubber stuff out to let it relax, but have since put it all away in other boxes and bags.
What "center"? the tail panel center or around the backlite center? The rubber lays different along the tail panel.
I've purchased the AK weather strip before. Trunk was fine. The stuff that goes around the doors was pitiful. I ended up just finding some nice used weatherstripping ... even the 40 Year old OEM stuff was nicer than the new AK stuff.
I hear ya! The fasteners pull out and the gaskets are too long, like they were made for a different car ( mustang or falcon maybe ). Seems that for the money you pay, they would at least fit the car!
Boy! I hate to hear these stories. I have the entire kit and have only used the rubber at rear of hood where it meets cowl/firewall. It was'nt to bad, but had to reposition some clips in the rubber. On another note, I was/am waiting to have the car painted to install the remaining wx strip.
Well now I'm just getting freaked out seeing as though I need to order that kit soon. Wish others made the weather stripping.
I had no issue installing my weather seals I got from Auto Krafters. I was not too happy with the extra thin roof rail weather stripping. They are already starting to rip through the mounting clips
The rubber sits on the tail panel and the lip of the tail panel is behind the rubber. In other words the rubber sits in the corner.
Been my experience with AK many a time. Stopped ordering anything from them a couple of years ago because of it.
