Do you guys have any suggestions for a good set of motor mounts that won't cost me ton of money? Will these work? Would I need anything else? Stock 1971 Mav, 302/C4: http://www.4wheelparts.com/Performance-Parts/Motor-Mount.aspx?t_c=74&t_s=551&t_pt=3311&t_pn=T/D4982 I've seen some others at Autozone, O'Reilly's and of course some others at JEGS and Advanced Auto Parts. Some people say to get the mounts that have some kind of inserts which are supposed to help in some way....I'm drawing a blank on what this was at the moment.
After digging a little more, I think those mounts from 4Wheel Parts might work since I found them on JEGS and they showed them as compatible, as did O'Reilly. Anyone use these? I can get a good discount on these, if they will work.
its real easy to get the wrong mounts. you wont know till your trying to install the motor and it wont go line up. thats a real inconvenient time to discover youve got the wrong mounts. some mounts have bolt that goes through the rubber that will prevent too much movement if the rubber rips. ive never looked into it too much but i think maverick doesnt share mount dimensions with any other cars. a strong built motor will tare the drives side rubber apart. ive done it many times. the two ways ive fixed this is to put a strap from the drives side head to the sway bar frame mount to prevent it from pulling the mount apart or to weld straps on the mount to make it a solid mount. the other way ive seen is if you have the mounts with the limit bolts in it, is to take out the limit bolt that has some travel built in and put a bolt and nut through that will clamp it together to prevent it from separating. you can also drill the holes in a mount that doenst have the bolt already to put your own bolt through. be careful to make sure you have clearance on the motor mount stand for the bolt to clear it.
They are 52.99 each at Jegs, what kind of a deal can you get on them? The replacements from www.rockauto.com are $13.37 each, which you know will fit.
I can get those Trans-Dapt mounts from 4Wheel Parts for $45.42 out the door. Anyone tried out those mounts from RockAuto? I worry about getting some stuff TOO cheap (read lots of bad stuff about cheap mounts).
I never had a problem with Anchor brand motor mounts. I don't know if their quality has deteriorated in the past few years or not. I did pin the set I put on my Falcon just in case.
I do like the price of those from rockauto... Now I'm just curious if those from 4Wheel Parts will work or not. I'm seeing pros/cons for each at this point, assuming the ones from 4WP work.
I looked in the vendor links but what I saw was old codes that have expired...think you could help point the way?
i would expect the transdapt one to just be repackaged one from another brand like anchor. anchor has been the only mount brand that ive seen for the past couple of years.
I must be completely over looking the obvious...I still don't see the discount code posted here.... EDIT: Nevermind...found it.
FYI: Those mounts from 4Wheel Parts do NOT work, just in case anyone else is looking into new mounts. Several websites state that they will work on the Mavericks, but they definitely don't drop straight in. I think they require the crossmember bar and will not work without it. Definitely not what I hoped for. The RockAuto mounts from DEA work great and bolt straight-up. My old mounts were junk and this definitely smoothed things out. Next up is the balancer.
