Hey guys, I'm going to replace my balancer soon and I noticed that my crank pulley looks like it wobbles. Considering this mounts to the inside of the balancer, any wobble I see on it can only be due to the pulley itself, right? I think maybe during one of the rebuilds one of those shops probably tried to overtighten the PS belt to keep it from squeeling, instead of replacing the belt like they should have. Anyway....

Where's a good place to get an affordable 4-hole crank pulley with 2 V-slots ('71 stock 302)? It currently uses a 3 V-slot pulley but I'm not going to ever hook up the AC (original compressor taken out already) and the belt slot closest to the radiator, which is the AC belt, isn't used anyway. I'd rather not buy junkyard stuff, if possible. Any good places other than e-bay?

I never seen where replacing a pulley with a different number of sheave align up with the other sheaves. Best to replace ALL the pulleys. Good luck finding a matching set if buying new

lol.. trust me.. that rule doesn't apply in Texas heat. It only makes you feel like you've turned up the fan speed on the blast furnace , is all.

Low hot.. medium hot.. and high hot is all you get without AC down there. Although.. it's not so bad in the early AM hours until it starts all over again for the day. :D

I'm used to it I guess. It can be 100° outside and unless I'm completely stopped, it's not too unbearable. Hot?...yes. But usually by the time I get home after driving for 1+ hr and 35 miles (stupid Dallas area traffic), I've only got a little sweat on my brow and only a small sweat spot on the back of my shirt. Luckily, work, home and my wife's truck all have AC because if they didn't...yes...I would fix my car's AC. That would just be rediculous.

wow!.. I lived there for 3 years and I'd be near soaking wet after sitting in all that traffic. Course.. moving along at anything more than 40mph will dry you right off to make you think you're hardly even sweating.

Dry heat's not so bad, but I can't even imagine how folks go without AC in the more humid states. :hmmm:

Dallas isn't exactly dry. I worked for 7 years driving a log truck without A/C. Drove my V8 Ranger without it too. The Comet lacks A/C but I still drive it once or twice a month in summer. Long as you're moving, it's not bad at all. You also learn to appreciate those summer T-storms too. Until they're over, then it REALLY gets humid when the sun comes out and sends all that water back up into the air.:biglaugh:
