Hello, my Names Francois Bougeant and this is my 74 maverick, ive owned it since I was 14, and built the engine, transmission, and rear axle. Its got a long ways to go, so ill be posting updates as it transforms. here are some random photos of it. The Engine: 306CI V8 ported polished 74 302 heads with 3 angle valve job milled .010 hypereutectic pistons (.030 over stock) summitracing cam 280, 289 .449/.473 Edelbrock performer rpm intake (ported) Summit racing 600CFM carb Flowtech full length headers edelbrock pro-flow air cleaner procomp pro HEI distributor. The engine bay as of today the newest part bought( marine gas filler, imported from Nova Scotia the cars wearing 06 Mustang bullitt wheels, and 1.5' spacers to compensate Upgrades to come: dynomax vt mufflers and full stainless x pipe Shelby drop kit install 6 cylinder front springs( or lowering springs) fiberglass pre-73 bumpers fiberglass hood, and fenders paintjob!!! carburetor air plenum build. interior (the most dreaded part of this entire build) feel free to tell me whatcha think of this build, Thanks!
What company in Nova Scotia did you get this from? Is it a direct fit, or will it require some fab work? I LOVE those wheels on your car! Looks like you have a solid build on the go!! Good work!:Handshake Oh, and from New Brunswick... just a skip across the bay from Nova Scotia!
The gas filler is vintage Chris craft fuel filler, can be found on eBay, its fits our filler easy, but requires fuel fill tube modifications. And yeah the photos are kinda fun colors sorry, I was messing with my camera
second Update! look what i found in the back of a caprice in a hidden junkyard, behind a racetrack, beside a city. and after a little cleaning I'm not sure if i'm going to clean them then sell them, or put them on the car...thoughts? I for sure plan to take them apart all the way and clean them and buff them. still planning on the exhaust soon, then ill post a lil video of it driving and revving.....you know....guy stuff
thanks man! here is another teaser 2x2x.62.5 sub-frame connectors, custom built by me for my 4door, where each tube was cut to bend, i plate welded it back together for double strength. next fabrication project is either the gas cap, or the custom v8 brace( making way for the rack and pinion. )
UPDATE! Finally found some time to order some exhaust components in starting off with two DynoMax VT mufflers! these things are the bomb! and i ordered in and should be receiving this week my summit racing x pipe kit. if all goes well exhaust should be in placed and welded up by next Sunday. 17's are off car right now, having my painter friend (extremely good) paint the wheels ( only the spokes) gloss metallic black, those should be back on and good within a month!! will update more this week as time goes on!
UPDATE! After a few months in hiding, I've finally got the car up and driving( after complete carb retune and exhaust installed) The exhaust is fully welded( seperation point at the headers) wrapped( ford racing blue fiberglass wrap) and rubber mounted. Due to clearance issues with the headers, torque chain was installed on engine to the drivers side framerail. During acceleration the engine would twist, causing the driverside header to slam into the frame. Cure was adjustable chain. Photos and commentary coming soon, as well as possible video of it driving. Overall this has been an interesting and complicated build, nothing has escaped being modified. Questions? Comments? Concerns?
