I love my 2 chamber 40 series Flows! Definitly putting them on the 351W Grabber when I get it swapped in. :)

Rick, how do those sound? I have a 393 with shorty Hedmans that I am thinking of bolting them on to. I hate the drone with 40 series flows.

    X-pipe
    Hooker Aero-Chamber mufflers

Somewhat mild cam in a 302 with the late model (HO) or 351W firing order.

The Aero-Chambers are often mistaken for Flow 3 chambers, but are a little
deeper tone at idle. When up in the RPM's they are raspy. Very little interior
    resonance like Flo 2 chambers.

hey 289, i am running flowtech afterburners, 2 1/2 inch. they are quiet at idle but have a great rumble when you get on it.
i just received confirmation today for the silver springs show. the green 4 dr will be there. the feb show sounds like a good one for us to invade too.

Well I just took the pipes off and cut off the Flowmasters. Dynomax's will be here tomorrow....I'm still thinking about an X-pipe or and H-pipe...I'll try to keep you all updated

Jason that sounds like a plan!

I don't have the engine in the Comet yet but I'm going to use the same thing I have on my 84 F-150 351W--- headers, 2 1/2 pipes, Cherry Bomb glass packs. I don't really care for the Flowmasters, not really sure if I ever heard the Dynomax or not; but if it sounds anything like a Flowmaster I wouldn't have it either. Just my opinion, you know what they say about that! lol!:smash:

Flows let everyone know you mean business. The Dynomax's aren't all that loud...till you step on it!Then they're still not near as loud as,well, about any I've heard in a long time.Half the time when I ran the 4door(2 1/4" dual w/Dynomax turned down at rear)I couldn't hear my car over the others.I do love those Flowmasters('specially with a stick car)but the Dynomax lets you "sneak and destroy".Not that I would do such a thing:rolleyes:

Everything I've heard with an x pipe has a higher pitch, sounds like they're turning 10 grand when it's only 6 grand, sounds awesome to me.

I dunno, guess I'm just old school {maybe old age catching up.............naw], nothing has the smooth sound of glasspacks, may cost a few hp but you most likely never tell the differnce............ love open headers but too much noise for Smokey Bear..........just like the mellow tone till you mash it..........then it talks bussiness!!!!!!!

I agree completely......the glass packs are pretty melow at idle, but man when you get on them.....wow.....I am running my hornies (3 inch) right off my headers which might make them a little louder.

The highest flowing glass-packs you can get would be the DynoMax Race Bullets.
They are ceramic fiber packed and have a preforated core like a regular cherry bomb, hornie, or whatever brand you call them by, but the core does not extend into the exhaust flow like the others. Therefore the Bullets flow like open pipe.
I put one on my 98 Z28 and it sounded awesome. I don't know what they do in pairs on an old school carbbed V8 though. The Z is a single 3" exhaust car with a restrictive muffler that has 2 tail pipes. I removed the muffler and put a 3" shortie bullet in the main exhaust pipe. The sound is very quiet, deep and mellow at idle and cruise... step on the throttle and it becomes NASCAR-sounding very quickly. 6k rpms with that set-up is very intimidating. Yet I can sneak around when I please.
With our set-ups, I think that an "H" pipe (not "X", because that can increase sound) would be manditory, as well as the use of PN 24219 'long' bullets. These are the 24" long 3" bullets. Combined with the H and 2.5" pipe, I think the sound would be great and the flow would be as open pipe. You would use the 3" bullet with the 2.5" pipe to slow the sound waves and make the muffler more effiecient. IMO 2.5" bullets would be too loud for the street. They are race mufflers that flow like open pipe, so you would need to put some thought into your system.
    Dave

Edit: I didn't mention that these mufflers run 30-40 bux through Summit or Jegs, depending on exact part number you get. I have the shortie 3.5" on my Powerstroke diesel... :D
On my single 3" exhaust Z28, I gained almost 20 rwhp by deleting the stock muffler and using the short bullet.
