I think I recall reading an old post regarding a shop in New Jersey that had dies to properly straighten a small front and/or rear bumper that was bent or distorted. Does anyone recall the name of the shop OR are there other shops of this kind that specialize in our cars?
this was Earls bumper before and after... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=75496&highlight=southern+bumper
I don't think they actually have "dies" for these bumpers. The first one I had redone had marks on the back from where it was straightened. They were about the size of a flat chisel. I'm assuming a press or a Pullmax. They probably have measurements or templates to make sure the bumper is true. I went with Tri Citys last time. It came out show quality.
Southern Bumper will charge something $25 per hole but then can't guarantee it color of the chrome where it was filled
I called tri city and they won't even do it. They said it will never look right afterwards. Lzoesch, I could easily do that myself but I wouldn't want to ruin my bumpers.
I used dal-chrome in Dallas to straighten the front bumper and rechrome it. It had been hit right in the center. It looks brand new. If you want to remove the bumper guards just use the smaller bumper bolts to fill in the holes, this is what I did on the rear.
The plating company I used (in Houston, TX) told me the same thing. So I ended up doing this instead. Guess you could always take the chance?
I've never heard that before, the place that did mine, copper coat them twice, sanding it out each time, then double nickel.
