What starter do I need for my t5 swap ? I'm guessing mine won't fit... I'm using a t5 bell with a 28oz 157 tooth flywheel... I hope to use a mini starter if possible...
The E3ZR bellhousing has SAE threads so you can use your same bolts. Don't know about the E6 bellhousing.
i have found some of the old starters dont fit the t5 bell and flywheels. the snout is just not the right length. i havent bothered figuring which ones. i like to put the 94-95 mustang starters in. they are the mini high torque factory starter. they are much lighter and have more cranking power. its kind of a no brainer to switch to
Basically I believe it's the early small block manual trans starters from the '60/'70s that have the short snout and won't fit any late application...AFAIK all the small block starters from at least the early/mid '80s interchange... I've even used a 428CJ 4-speed starter on a automatic 351 and it worked without a problem... The cable stud was at a odd angle and there was no place for the third starter bolt, but it cranked without issue and was on the engine for several years...
I will see if my 74 starter will fit, I will go with a mini starter if I have to buy one... Thanks...
