for some reason my car starts fine when cold but after I drive it for ten miles or so an it gets good an warmed up an then I shut it off for a few minutes its hard to start back up...I have to hold the gas to the floor an spin it over a good bit before it fires off kinda like its flooded or something just sitting there...car has a 5.0 with e-cam..gt-40 heads..weiand intake with holley 670 vaccum sec. carb...full length headers....I haven't checked the floats lately but they were spot on last time I checked...im running an electric fuel pump if that makes a difference. Its pumpin around 6.5-7 psi like it should. Gonna check the floats tomorrow but was wondering if it could have other problems.

Is the starter struggling or does it crank just as fast?

That does sound like it's flooding, let us know what the floats are doing and make sure one of them is not filling with fuel, I have had that happen before.

    Do you prime before starting?

I'm thinking the carb is getting heat soaked as it sits. The fuel will boil and flood the engine. Do you have a phenolic spacer? Are your fuel lines away from any heat sources?

    yes

yes I always give it a pump shot before starting..im not running a spacer at the moment but I have a 1/2 spacer I could try...the previous owner ran hard fuel line on the upper side of the driveshaft tunnel under the car and up over the trans...Its not really near any of the exhaust that I can think of right now...ill have to check into that tomorrow

    ..

now that u mention the fuel line thing...it makes me wonder...I never noticed this problem until I recently had exhaust ran on the car..ill bet my fuel lines are vapor locking from heat off the exhaust....It never had this problem with open headers

Heat soak. The gas is boiling in the fuel bowl(s). Today's gasoline (10% ethanol) has a lower boiling point than gasoline from decades ago.

Never pump a hot engine, if it's already flooded that just makes matters worse and will require holding WOT, which the pump shot just floods it even more so......

    ..

it usually runs 180 on the highway for a long while until I get into traffic then I switch the fan on an it holds it between 190-200...an I don't pump it since this started happening. I just go ahead an hold it wide open an spin it until it starts.

Fuel boiling off in carb...Vapor soaks the intake...Car cranks long time, till vapor is cleared...By this time float bowls have re-filled. Vroom...car starts...As stated, todays fuel cooks off easily. If you have room for a phenolic spacer...Use it to mitigate the heat soak into the carb. It will help.
