My seats are blue and in a green car doesn't look pretty and I want to reupholster it but I don't think I could ever get upholstery for them. Any suggestions? Anyone think that maybe mustang upholstery would be close enough to work?

If you want to buy the original style material: http://www.smsautofabrics.com/
These guys will have it, then find a local guy to reupholster your seats.

Get ready to open your pocket book. My fabric for 74 Maverick is 59.00 a yard you need about 5 yards for front seats.

you can use Naugahyde and its really durable and cheap atleast around here
I saw some seats painted with duplicolor interior paint and they looked really nice. the door panels looked like they were upholstered black not the blue they came from the factory they said it was like $8 a spray can at the local auto parts store

If you have high back buckets the 71/73 mustang covers will work.. the cover for the back seat will have to be redone to fit... I used 71 mach1 covers in my car...

If you are just looking to recover 71-72 Mav front buckets, anything for a 71-73 Mustang will work, and there are inexpensive skins out there from TMI.

71-73 Mustang COUPE upholstery is closer for the back seat. Mach 1s were fastbacks and the rear seat would fold down, so the upholstery for the back seat has an odd split.

Coupe rear seats are closer to a Mav rear seat. Basically, the upper cushion in a Mav is about an inch narrower. Installing mine, I simply pulled it a bit tighter and it looks okay. For a perfect fit, I am sure an upholstery shop could reconstruct the ends a bit.

The seat bottom is where it gets dicey. The Mustang seat is much shorter and is more like two buckets with a hump over the trans tunnel. I got an LDO rear seat bottom and modified the frame, radically chopping the height. The cover barely fit as made, but there is additional headroom now if you have a tall passenger.

Done again, I would go with the LDO seat bottom and have upholstery added to the bottom edge to make it work. Keep in mind that the seat bottoms changed for 72- later, so you have to match that shape.

U might consider getting them frm a member on this board who has Maverick & Comet patterns and makes them any way u want. U can install them urself if ur so inclined. I order mine Jan 2011 and installed them in my basement workshop; price "fr & rear",at the time $530 shipped to Chicago. If ur foam padding is in decent shape - not a big deal on the install. I bought two padded sets of hog-ring pliers and lots of rings, took my time and worked out OK.

Thank you all for the suggestions:thumbs2:. I have a front bench seat in my car and I am having trouble finding something close to that mustangs had that fold down thing in the middle so I don't think they will work.

In the middle of the two seats there is a peace that folds down in between the seats its kind of like an armrest thing.

Fred Carello did mine they looked like factory, he can fix you up, took to local upholestery shop to have installed, could have did myself after watching them do it, big thing is to lay covers in sun or warm place to ease slipping on, buy some hose ring pliers and rings from local farm store and you are in business
