currently i have this intake here
    http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/edl-7121/overview/make/ford
was curious if that there's some betters ones out there i should be looking to get weather its dart or whatever brand..reason is there's a guy very interested in paying near what i paid new for it and i've been told they really dont perform that well..also would like to keep it fitting under my hood..so i don't believe an airgap is the answer for me at this time being; if it sits higher.

I think that's the same one I have on my comet, I can't remember if it's a high rise on not. If its the same it will fit fine under the hood. Also depends on the height of the carberator and mount plate. As for performance I noticed a big difference, although I was running the stock two barrel before lol. There are better ones but your looking at a lot more money, if your just running it as a cruiser it's the best bang for your buck.

That intake is good to 5500rpm & will fit under your hood. You probably could try a 1/2in phenolic plate under carb,as I don`t believe the 1in will fit under your hood. This will get heat off the carb. & increase your performance, this is probably the best you cAN HOPE FOR W/OUT CHANGING the hood.Buy the open spacer, dyno`s show they make a little more power.

I read an extensive article online somewhere where a dyno shop tried just about every spacer you could imagine,& they determined the open spacer made just a little more power. It was only about 5hp & I don`t remember the test engine, you would never feel 5hp.

    That's a pretty popular intake.

it really is around here alot of people run it..i was just looking a better intake for some power gains since i may be able to recover most my cost from it.

It is a pretty good intake, lots of tests online with it. I think Car Craft did some dyno testing, and found it performs just as good as some of the more expensive intakes. I've been planning on getting one.

Man I Love Six Pack Setups and When They are Tuned Right Outperform a 4Bbl. (IMO) Find an Edelbrock F4B. They are Supposed to Outperform the Edelbrock Performer RPM and They Look A Little Different. They Were an Option On 260's & 289's in Sunbeam Tigers(spelled FUN). Alot of it is Personal Opinion and Relative to a Hundred Variables. Most Important Enjoy what Ever You Want.

The old F4B is the same as the Shelby "Cobra" intake and the Ford C9OX. Ford Racing recently sold it as their A321. These are all unequal length high rise dual planes, where the RPM and Stealth are equal length runner designs. I have the A321 on an Explorer long block, it's an out standing intake, but the RPM is it's equal. My 3x2 has been on my 331 for nine years now with only a single jet change in all that time (due to putting spacers under the carbs) Other than that they haven't been touched and perform like they did when I first tuned em for the motor.

Joe Sherman was at Edelbrock when they developed the Performer RPM. He has stated that the RPM was some 20 hp better than the old F4B.

I saw a dyno test sheet of all the various SBF intakes somewhere a few years ago, seems I recall all the high rise dual planes were within 10 hp of each other.
