So I bought some high back buckets from a local forum member but since he had traded parts for these previously he doesn't really know what they came out of. I don't even know if these are Ford seats. Some other pictures I have seen on this forum looks like the back of the seats have some kind of plastic or nylon insert. The ones I have are all vinyl on the back. Also don't know what the seat tracks came out of...I just know they are not Maverick seat tracks. You can't see from the pics but attached to the coils underneath the seat is some kind of black tag with numbers on it but I can't make heads or tails of it. Anyone have any ideas what seats these are??

I can't imagine that upholstery in anything besides a Pinto.

I agree with Paul Masson, they look like Pinto or Bobcat seats based on; the material, design, and where the lift latch is located in the back. I have a set of black buckets out of a pinto and they look like yours.

Would they look out of place in the Maverick after I have them re-covered?

I'd bet they would look pretty good, recovered, its all in your own preference as to how you want your mav to be. Speaking of looking out of place....I have a set of Porsche seats for my Mav, and I think they will look great and they feel pretty good.

Well, at least everyone believes they are Ford seats...lol...yeah they should look fine except a true Mavricker will know that they are not Maverick seats. I don't think that will matter to me though.

I actually like the looks of the pinto seats, but I need my seats to recline and pinto seats dont recline.

I want to put my 2002 BMW 525i power seats in the maverick. My god those most comfortable seats I have sat on. I could drive 2k miles and not get a sore ass.

Yup...Pinto seats Gene. They can be made to look good in your Grabber.

Give me a call or PM me if you need any additional help with mating seat tracks up, or upholstery. :)

They look fine, but I find them to be a little too narrow.

My first impression said Pinto seats, and I am still sticking with that. However, those seat tracks have me mystified. The way they tuck the rails inboard is odd compared to Pinto tracks that I have seen. Perhaps it is an early vs late issue. Or maybe the Pinto seats were swapped into something else before they got to you.

Pinto seat bottoms are narrower than Mav/Mustang high backs.

    UPDATE ON THIS

I noticed that there are only 2 hinge covers on my "new old" bucket seats...so I pulled one off to get a better look at it so I might recognize it when I go junkyarding. Lo and behold there is a Ford part number on the back side of it...D8ZB-6961695-AWA. Looking at the first 4 digits and looking at my Ford part# decoder I can see this is from 1978...car line is Mustang and dept is Body. The decoder I have doesn't list Pinto as one of the possible car lines either so maybe Pintos were grouped in with Mustangs?? Now I know Ford is notorious for using parts designated for one car on others so not sure if these are really Pinto seats or Mustang II seats. And then there is the fact that these could not be the original hinge covers. That all being said, it is not a big deal to really know what seats these are but it's nice to know. I figure one of you guys could shed some light in this new discovery!
