Hello, I have a '71 Maverick with a 200 engine. I've discovered that the heat/choke riser tube is broken about about an inch from the bottom, but it's still within the sleeve material. Will keeping it within the sleeve be enough to allow the manifold heat to rise up to the choke, or will I need to replace the entire tube? I could buy a length of steel tube and by using a bender, copy the bends in the tube and I can flare out the end for the nut, but I don't know how to make the manifold end small enough to fit into the hole. Any suggestions are welcomed! Thank you! Renton5
Whatever size the line is was the original size in the exhaust manifold, usually due to rust and remnants of the line, opening will be smaller than orig... I've bent new line and drilled the manifold back to same size without issue... A stick of new line should be just a few $$, I paid $2.65 last week for a 30" piece of 5/16", should be able to get 1/4" for even less...
