... It won #1 of 42 of PHR's readers rides!!!

Didn't get on the front cover, but clearly listed as "WINNER" in the article.

I already see prices that are retarded high being asked on craigslist and ebay point made look that comet 4 door on ebay that was mentioned in another thread they want $10k for it and it hasnt been ran in YEARS

there have been a few really nice cars that were priced to sell obviously.
like there was a super nice drag mav in detroit pumping like 800hp naturally aspirated out of a big block for around $7k if I remember right and I thought theres no way you can build that for twice that much money.
so the price and value of these cars is all over the place

Nothing wrong with the prices going up, for those of us who already have the cars and are working on them. I am just glad I acquired it at the bottom of the market.

I have around $10k into mine and it is not worth anything near that. I never expect to sell it for what I have into it.

BUT...if the value goes up and I can sell it in 10 years for twice what I put into it, after I am done playing with it, I have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM with that!

I paid $500 for my running maverick with zero rust. I have maybe 3k into the car -- When I am done I will only take 100k cash in 1$ bills to sell my babbbby :)

To me that car seems un finished or rushed, the rear wheels are too far in, and too far forward, then the front end sits too high, and purple clashes with grey...the driveline angles must be insane....it's just all over the place.

I think that car is hideous. 'Sorry, but I do.

I also find it disgusting how so many people think that no matter how terrible condition a car is, it's worth a ridiculous amount of money because it's a "classic".

No one likes Mavericks more than I do, but they were a cheap car from the beginning. It's wonderful that they can be fixed up and modified to be like musclecars, but that hardly makes them worth the fortune that some people are asking for them.

Back on topic; I'm glad a Maverick won a Readers Rides award.

I sure liked it a lot more before you pointed out the flaws. but your right. Is that an exhaust pipe hanging down under the door?

I see your points to some degree.. but after all.. it's a pro-street build and that's about the only way that you can stuff that big a tire in there without chopping wheel lips all to hell while also keeping the front end from slamming the pan down on street pavement. Think.. "1980's".. without the hideous paint jobs of that era. Also looks more "early 70's hotrod" inspired to me with that stripe.

All I can say is.. I bet the car looks far better in person than it does from a one angle perspective on a computer monitor.

Plus.. grey is just like black in that it goes with EVERYTHING.. not to mention it makes the accent color really pop because of its nuetrality. I sure wouldn't kick it out of my garage.
