    Hi All,

Based on my research here and on the net, I went to SMS fabrics to get some original red/black comfortweave material for my 71 Grabber. Apparently, from what I've read, this material cannot be reproduced because it took a special machine, and the only way to get some is to find NOS/OEM material.

The pic they sent was a perfect match, so I figured I'd get some before you can't find it anymore. I paid $400 for the fabric for 2 front bucket seats because I thought it was NOS/OEM stuff that they sold. Now it has been 1.5 months and they are telling me that their supplier doesn't have it, but that they can make it. I'm skeptical that they can make it and that it will be a match. I tried to cancel the order, but they won't let me. They will only allow me to get a "replacement" fabric if the one they send is not to my liking. Well if they can't make it or get it, there is no replacement, so I might be stuck with $400 worth of some lame looking comfort weave.

Has anyone bought any comfort weave material from SMS recently? Does anyone know if they really can make it? Would be cool if they could. They said they have a mill somewhere that can do it.

I found a 2nd Factory/OEM/NOS Comfortweave Supplier a couple of years ago, located in Michigan: (I also show the Factory Detroit Body Book Swatches) And I posted this in case SMS Fabrics ever ran out, and also to have other options.

I don't know if they have your color in stock, but you can try.

I have dealt with SMS in the past and they are top notch. If they say they can do it, I believe them.

I bought comfort weave material from SMS in black and in the red & black and it looks great, but when I had to order some more for the back seat I got the same song and dance and it took a few months for them to make some more and get it to me. If they say they will make you some they will, it will just take a while. I will look for the picture of the seats and post it.

Thanks guys...sounds very hopeful that they can make it. It's actually been closer to 2.5 months, but as long as it looks the same as the original when I get it, I'm not concerned if it takes a long time. I'll report back after I get it.

It's been over 4 months and no fabric. I've called 4 times to complain and try to get my money back buy they won't refund it. Bad business. They never said it would take over 4 months when I bought it. I don't understand why if they haven't made it yet, why not give me my money back and all is good. They suck.

SMS may tell you no, but your credit card company may tell you differently. I would call your card holder and explain to them.... they may credit your account the money spent and deal with getting their money back from SMS. ....JMO

I tried that and the CC company said after 90 days I can't file a complaint with the CC. Seems weird that I have no recourse when I paid but never got anything???

They are probably putting several orders together before they actually run it. Lots of companies do that. Looks they would at least be honest and tell you it will X when it is actually ran.

To be a member, yes. As a company I payed almost $500/year to be a member. I was a member for almost 10 years, with no issues. One of my competitors, in business for less than 5 years, and 14 registered complaints..had the same A+ rating as me...when I called and asked why, they couldn't give me an answer..other than, as long as they respond to the complaint (good or bad) they can't do anything...
