    Howdy Yall,

My name is David and I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone here. I'm a long time Ford owner but this is my first Maverick AND my first "older" vehicle. Previously I daily drove a 1995 7.3 diesel and now have a bone stock 2007 F150 5.4. My wife drives a 2000 F150 5.4.

My wife is the connection here with the Maverick. Her father (my FIL), whom some of ya'll may have met in person and who sometimes posts here (not sure of his user name yet), has been collecting and restoring Mavericks for years ever since he owned one "back in the day". He bought my wife her first Maverick, a 1977 plain jane, when she couldn't drive yet, and worked on restoring it over the course of a few years to a Grabber clone. It unfortunately was in a bad wreck but was brought back to life. Now it sits today still a 77, but with 72 bumpers, a new black paint job with silver stripes, possibly every chrome accent piece offered, and a very clean black interior. It came with the I-6 but now has a 302 from a 79 Granada, rebuilt and updated with a mild cam, bored .030 over, and a few other things.

My FIL was gracious enough to deliver this vehicle to us this past weekend here in SE Louisiana and we spent the weekend going over it and cruising around in it. Now, other than a bath, it's in great condition!

I plan on keeping his vision of maintaining that factory look but eventually, as money allows, doing some upgrades to the 302 to get a little more power out of it. This being my first experience with Mavericks and coming from an all-truck background, it's been fun to drive this weekend, even if the weather has been terrible!

I look forward to chatting with everyone here and I know this forum is a wealth of information!

    Thanks,

P.S. Here is a picture of it sitting in my garage when he first delivered it

    Welcome aboard!

It sounds like your father-in-law is Doug, down in Texas :) That's a great looking car...luv the color combo.

    His username is: DAB

He has a really cool website about these cars too.

Yep, that's him! His daughter and I got married in August and we're in a house now with a two-car garage that can fit both the Maverick and my tools and whatnot. I combed through his website for the past few months learning more about this particular one, but he's got several other cool ones. I know he's glad to be able to pull that last Maverick into his garage now though with this 77 gone!

    Congratulations. That's a really good-looking car. I'd black-out the headlight bezels.
