Okay...I can't believe I'm posting a Movie spot...but when you spot one out of the blue...it's kinda funny...

...so every now and then I get bored of the A list movies, and check out a cheesy post-apocalyptic, horror, comedy....whatever...:D

Anyway...I was watching this disaster movie, where nuclear weapons are causing the magnetic fields of the Earth to shift, hence, the end-of-the-world scenario...

...and then I spot what I believe is a Mercury Comet, staged in an earthquake scene....looks like an early, small bumper Comet.

The movie is called: The Deadly Shift

It can be seen around the 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 50 seconds mark.

As a fan of "old and cheesy B movies", I can't believe I haven't seen that one! At first I thought you were talking about "The Core", which although a "B" movie, was done well with good special effects. :)

That's not an airbag. That's the dirty windshield. You can see the shape of the dash at the top of the gauge cluster in there.

Something about the way it looks screams "it's only a model" (any Monty Python fans out there ... ;) ). I guess it is the wheels and the funky angle the car is sitting at. Those could actually be baby moon hubcaps, but the rest of the wheel seems to be lacking detail, and seem to fill the wheelwell better than skinny tires usually do.

It does make more sense that they are using old cars for the most perilous part of the scene, so I am starting to rule out CGI.

Anyway, good job spotting it in the scene.
