Just wondering if anyone has used Scarebirds disc conversions front or rear? My main question is, are they any lighter than the factory discs or drums? I'm just trying to shed some rotating weight as cheaply as possible, and figured the Toyota (gasp!) rotors the kits call for would be fairly light?
Dunno, but my research led me to beleive after all said and done they cost too much. a lot of effort sourcing parts, time getting drums modified, fabing everything. might be worth the lightness. But will they stop a drag car? FWIW in case you didnt notice, you need the toyota rotor AND the hub from the drum.
I had my suspicions, just looking for as many cheap ways to lighten the car and be legal for my class. I swapped the front to drums because that was less weight already. Maybe someone will sell a barely used Wilwood setup someday, I just cant spend that much on the car.
Sometimes you can find someone selling the complete parts kit (minus brake lines) on ebay for around $350-400. But you still have to get your drums milled, etc.
