The first modification is easy, electronic ignition, theres lots of options. Id suggest DUI/HEI if you have the money, but Duraspark will work too. Just more wiring and less gain (or so they say)

Second is a 2 barrel carb. It's probably one of the more expensive upgrades you'll make (while N/A) Somewhere I have a graph that shows that just a 2 bbl carb on an i6 shows a 30 HP jump! This is just the graph I cant seem to find the actual information that was originally with it.. [IMG]

If after these two upgrades you still want more Id start to seriously consider forced induction.=, or increasing the compression on the engine the old fashion way..

i put a petronics on the 200 that was in the 68 falcon and a really hot coil, which is going in my 62. also put on the weber 2bbl. dont think it added 30 hp but it added quite a bit.. but more importantly eliminated that damn off idle bog and was much snappier.

I just ordered the adapter for the 250 in my maverick and will be going 2bbl soon. dont forget a camshaft is a viable option also. good time to do it is when you pull that cyl head to mill it. (y)

My thoughts on ignition is the DUI is over-rated. The reason a lot of people says it is better is because they replaced a worn out distributor with a new unit and their engine ran better than it did before. The Duraspark II is a much better design and is not as big as a Holley Dominator. As far as wiring, its only one more wire than the DUI

250 IIRC, It was a long time ago but I swear on, well nothing, that the guy SAID it was a back to back run. The numbers dont make total sense to me either, but possible?

ANd I agree on the DUI being slightly overrated. I got it because it eliminates the module and external coil and I like a neat engine bay...

In suggest investing in a Ford Falcon Performance Hand Book. They are cheap, and tell you anything you want to know.

98 I to have a 200 6 and felt it needed a little something. First I install a pertronic ignition, starts better and idles smoother. Then I put on a Holley/Weber 5200 and moved my advance to the manifold for better timing. Then I got a header so it could breathe a little better, standard exhaust is only 1-3/4 inch. OK it's no rocket but it's alot more fun to drive and I get ALOT remarks about a 6 with aheader. Any questions just PM me

    Don't pictures always help ?

I have a 6 into 1 and then 2-1/4 back to a muffler with 2, 2 inch coming out of it

A little nitrous is good too, I had a custom plate built for my 200 (75hp. need to sell it!) the 200 revs higher, but the 250 is more torquey.. Ford 255 V8 pistons are the way to go if you use a 250, they have a higher compression distance, so you don't have to mill the block to get them higher in the block.
