I have a 1973 maverick and was wondering if its even worth it fixing up. it has rust on top , ripped up interior but it does run good. if so, where would be a best place to go for a good interior
Thanks!I'm a small girl and I learned the hard way that steering these kind of cars is very hard. Is there a way to make the steering easy?
from Stone Mountain, Ga. For seat upholstery, check with Fred Carillo (fmc56) you can check this thread and send him a pm. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=44471 Door panels are not reproduced, for all other interior items you can buy a few things from: www.melvinsclassicfordparts.com www.autokrafters.com If an interior piece is not shown in one of their catalogs then it is not available new and a good used item is what you would have to use.
As long as the cowl and floor pans are good, the rest looks like nothing a fresh coat of paint and possibly a donor interior wouldn't fix. You can post a Wanted ad and possibly browse the For Sale ads all in the Classified section. Several members on this forum specialize in parting cars out, for all of those hard-to-find unreproduced items. I assume your interior is blue?? BTW, from Atlantic Canada!
Start lifting weights... With P/S it would steer easily... Do you know if your car has power steering? (I'm guessing it doesn't)... Possibly does but is inoperative? If not you'll either have to live with it or source the conversion parts from a member who sells used parts... Converting to P/S isn't a huge project but if you don't have the expertise, paying a shop would likely be cost prohibitive... BTW welcome & good luck with your Mav...
from Northeast Pennsylvania Any car that is still around after 40 years old and still runs good is well worth saving
The rust you are talking about is just surface rust, from the looks of the pictures. Very easy to remedy and your car looks fairly straight, some would be very happy with that body as long as your floorboards aren't eat up. I say keep it and have something different than everybody else... well something different than anybody but us on this forum.
welcome to the board. there are a few guys on board from the L.A. area. i would suggest coming to this show http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=96999 this will let you meet people in your area who can help you with advice and maybe even parts. you can enter the show also. lots of not show cars enter this show. we are trying to get the maverick count at the show as high as possible to get them to open a maverick class.
Welcome, I have a 73 also. And over the years I have fixed my up to what it is now. You have a very solid car to work with. If you have any questions either I or someone else will be more then willing to help in anyway we can. We have great members here on this board so don't be afraid to ask.
