I turn them on and hear a sound, but they don't move. Something in the motor stripped? If so, how do I get to it?
Not easy at all. I would first remove the wiper and see if the shafts are rotating. I have had a Maverick that the shafts were stripped and would not move the wipers, even though they were moving.
Is the sound a whine, or a grind. X2 what craig says. Make sure the arms aren't stripped at their joints. But, if they are stripped at the joints try and figure out why. My wife stripped the wipers on our mini-van a few years back and after I fixed the joints I found out the gear inside the motor also got a flat spot in it from trying to overcome the frozen (literally, neighbor's kid and a hose) wiper arms. Had to replace the wiper motor anyway...
It sounds like a whine more than a grind. How do I take the wiper off? I assume that isn't the wiper blade you're talking about. Lol.
