Okay so my Mav has been acting up again. I dont know what the issue is, it has been on going. I think i have done everything I could but nothing works. So my car runs fine then occasionally when under load it will start to burble/hesitate/gurgle then its like when I give it more gas like I need to get past the hesitation or a clog the vehicle will respond and catch again and be fine, yet when I let off of the gas to ride or decelerate the vehicle falls back into the gurgle burgle. I don't know for sure if it is tuning or maybe I got bad gas or (which I doubt) my lines are clogged. If anyone has any remedies or any idea what it is or what I should do SPEAK. Lol im open to all ideas.
Replaced the fuel filter recently? Have you tested the fuel pump for pressure and volume? Just a couple things that come to mind.
No, I have not tested the fuel pump ever, heck I think it is still the same original one that the car came with in '77 at least i have never replaced it. i have replaced the fuel filter within the past 5-6 months.
Is there a possibility for anything else to be wrong though or does that seem to be the most reasonable issue
Vacuum gauge will help here too. Since you mention a change to 4bbl - could be the carb is not adjusted properly or needs a cleaning if it was a used carb. The gas tank as mentioned could be a possibility. It will be eliminated with that fuel pump test.
The gas tank and carb are brand new, as well as the lines, I get a pull of 17 with my vacuum so I will do the fuel test.
to me it sounds like the power enrichment circuit in the carb is clogged. if you have a holley then its in the metering plate. the power valve may be sticking or have debris plugging up its ports. if its an edelbrock then the plungers on the metering rods could be stuck in their bores. it could be an issue with the accelerator pump also. if the cam that activates the pump on the holley has worn a flat spot that could cause it to stumble, or a diaphragm could be dried out and be to stiff to pump correctly.

" all though all are possibilities the statement you made "So my car runs fine then occasionally" then "to the gurgle burgle." You might try a fuel conditioner but avoid one with alcohol, look for "petroleum distalates" as the prime ingrediant instead. Pick up a detailed book on your carb they are cheap and will help you to understand all the passages and functions.
My only question would be if it were debris or something wouldn't it be an all the time thing? Like every time I get in the vehicle It should do it, but I have yet to associate any pattern to the issue except maybe accelerating to quickly or running to high rpm's while the vehicle is cold. Another thing I forgot that I have left out is occasionally when it does this gurgle thing with the engine I will slow to take a turn, come to a complete stop then go to take the turn (like at a right light) and then the engine or carb will make these noises like 2 clicks as if it's auto correcting and the gurgle will end
if the choke plate is closing that can cause some weird problems. if you have an electric choke you can try rotating the back choke cap 1 notch towards it opening. if its a manual choke and your using it then just make sure the choke cable is secure and not getting acted upon by movement of the motor or car. if its manual choke and your not using it then make sure you have it wired securely in the open position.
