Does anyone have Maverick/Comet production numbers by year and how many of each color were made?

The production numbers can be found listed under each year in the VIN Thread.

As far as Colours (colors) go, I think only Kevin Marti knows THAT answer.:yup:

You could also take the time and perform searches for Marti Reports, as most members post them here. The way Marti crunches those colour numbers is "Paint/Trim", which is a product of both the Paint and Interior option, which would leave out cars with the same Paint, but different Interiors. The report stats are also based on body type (2dr, 4dr, Grabber, etc).

    No straight answers, unfortunately.

It's too bad we couldn't get a "community" set of basic stats from Marti and post them here, on the MMB.

Since your car was originally silver....I am sure it is a rare color.

I sent you a PM.....so send me back an email.

    Craig,

According the VIN thread posted above "291,675 1973 Mavericks were produced"

According to my Marti report there were:
1,125 with my paint code (5A Light Pewter Metallic)
    309 with my Paint/Trim Code

Do you know what a trim code entails?

Also would this be the rarest color or is there another that is even less common?

The rim code gives color and type of fabric used on seats, door panels, carpet etc...

Generally 'A' proceeded by a letter or number is black, 'B' is same for blue, 'D' for red etc...

Would that be: "HA" Black cloth/vinyl bench seat

    3 Grabbers
    Between my two 73's,
Green Gold Metallic (4B) there were 1556 with this paint code
Saddle Bronze (5T) there were 800 with this paint code

HA would be Black all vinyl bench, KA would be interior decor group all vinyl bench, LA would be super soft all vinyl buckets.
Black is A, Blue is B, Orange in C, Ginger is F, Avocado is G, Beige is T

But I sometimes wonder, how these numbers are broken down, between 2 doors, and 4 doors, and if that includes all three assembly plants? It would appear it's for that body code, at least. ( not including regular 2 and 4 door cars)

So we just need Marti reports for all the other color Grabbers, and we could make a complete list.

One would have to see a Marti report on every color to see which one is the rarest....or maybe ask Kevin Marti.

Are your numbers based on how many Grabbers were painted those colors?

    Agreed.

The Marti Reports sort the data by VIN numbers, so yes it would be only body type "93" included in the stats. It will say below the stats, that "Your car was one of... For the 197X 2-door Grabber".

I would love to clean a warehouse out that Ford had at one time. You know they trashed a lot of books an things.

Only 309 with HA trim isn't many considering that number is spread across all Grabbers... I'll guess for the Pewter paint, we're talking a two digit number, but to find this info you'll have to spring for a Elite Report...

mrmalina99's car is not a Grabber. Just a standard 2 -door Maverick that is now black. When I stopped by his place and looked at it, I could see hints of silver inside the trunk and in the jambs.
